The Independent Living Challenge
This organisation
belongs to you.
Not to a charity. Not to the council. To you — as a shareholder, a voter, and a founding member of something that has never existed before.

You are a shareholder

A real stake in something you help build and own — not a service user, not a consultee.

Your vote is unbreakable

Blockchain records every decision permanently. No officer or funder can quietly rewrite it.

You earn Criptos

Participating earns our own digital currency. Completing this challenge earns your first Criptos.

₵ Cripto

The Cripto is the VDPM's own digital currency — named by reclaiming a word once used against us, just as the movement reclaimed crip theory and crip pride. Think of it like air miles, except you earn them by contributing to your own movement. Founding members receive their tokens when the blockchain infrastructure launches.

"Creating our own organisations is not something to take our minds off our 'tragedies' but a matter of life and death."

— Mike Oliver, 1996. More urgent now than ever.

The Independent Living Challenge asks how far the right conditions are in place for you to live with choice, control and dignity. Gaps in your results are not personal failures — they are gaps in what society owes you. Your results include tailored advice rooted in the social model of disability, collective action suggestions, and an invitation to join the movement.

The twelve pillars

For each pillar, rate how far the right conditions are in place in your life. Expand "think about" for prompts to guide your thinking. If a pillar genuinely does not apply to your situation, mark it as not applicable.
